REVIEW~ IRONSKIN: BY TINA CONNOLLY

Jane Eliot wears an iron mask. It’s the only way to contain the fey curse that scars her cheek. The Great War is five years gone, but its scattered victims remain—the ironskin. When a carefully worded listing appears for a governess to assist with a "delicate situation"—a child born during the Great War—Jane is certain the child is fey-cursed, and that she can help. Teaching the unruly Dorie to suppress her curse is hard enough; she certainly didn’t expect to fall for the girl’s father, the enigmatic artist Edward Rochart. But her blossoming crush is stifled by her own scars, and by his parade of women. Ugly women, who enter his closed studio...and come out as beautiful as the fey. Jane knows Rochart cannot love her, just as she knows that she must wear iron for the rest of her life. But what if neither of these things is true? Step by step Jane unlocks the secrets of her new life—and discovers just how far she will go to become whole again. REVIEW: 4.5 STARS....... First I want to start with saying how stunning this cover is :) Heading into the first chapter I was unsure if Ironskin would be a story I enjoyed (writing was a bit different than I was used to) but by the second chapter I was hooked and was more than pleased with the writing style. The story was very different from books I've read and I found this book hard to put down. Was it filled with action.... No- but the writing was beautiful and the story was mysterious and intriguing. The ending picked up with more action which saved the book in my opinion. The characters were awesome and I felt the frustrations that Jane went through in her daily life with the 5-year old girl- Dorie. I liked that the book was not overwhelmed with romance but just enough to make an impact. I enjoyed every minute of Ironskin because of the different plot line and beautiful writing. If your someone who is looking for a book to blow your socks off I don't think this one will do it, but if you want an overall great book I would recommend Ironskin- I see that the ratings are all over the place but for me- I loved it! I look forward to reading more from Tina Connolly in this series :) This is a favorite of mine for 2012 (Want to say Thank You- to the publisher Tor Books.... I was one of the winner's to receive Ironskin as well as two other books from a contest held on their blog)

Review~ Don't Turn Around by Michelle Gagnon

Sixteen-year-old Noa has been a victim of the system ever since her parents died. Now living off the grid and trusting no one, she uses her computer-hacking skills to stay safely anonymous and alone. But when she wakes up on a table in an empty warehouse with an IV in her arm and no memory of how she got there, Noa starts to wish she had someone on her side. Enter Peter Gregory. A rich kid and the leader of a hacker alliance, Peter needs people with Noa's talents on his team. Especially after a shady corporation called AMRF threatens his life in no uncertain terms. But what Noa and Peter don't realize is that Noa holds the key to a terrible secret, and there are those who'd stop at nothing to silence her for good. Fans of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo will devour the story of Noa, a teen soul mate to Lisbeth Salander REVIEW: 4 STARS**** I won an ARC of Don't Turn Around by Michelle Gagnon in a giveaway for free from a blog participating in a Blog Tour- Don't Turn Around was a fantastic read with well rounded characters. I was expecting a little more out of this book, but not a let down at all. This makes for a superb set-up for book two in my opinion and hope to see some of the minor holes filled in. I will be continuing on with this series with high expectations. I can not pinpoint it but something seemed like it was missing.... You could not have asked for more as far as the characters go- 100 percent likable. There was light hints of romance (which was nice and not overdone) and lots of action. If this series heads in the right direction I think it will be a hit. The writing was well paced, smooth, and easy to follow. The book was detailed, but may be not enough in some areas. I like how the book grabs your attention from chapter one. I would recommend Don't Turn Around as a quick- exciting- mystery/thriller and I anticipate the arrival of book two. Don't turn around is a favorite for 2012 and I'm so glad to have won it- Great Addition to my Bookshelves :)

Review~ Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Starting over sucks. When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up. And then he opened his mouth. Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens. The hot alien living next door marks me. You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades. If I don't kill him first, that is REVIEW~ 5 STARS***** This book was impossible to put down... Loved It- plowed through this one in less than two days. This was my first book by Jennifer L. Armentrout and will not be my last. It took me about two chapters to get used to her writing style, but this book was a home-run*** I can not wait to continue with this series and read her other books :) I own almost all of them---- This book was fun - sassy and a great escape. Obsidian was a delight to read... Fan forever* :) Not much more to say almost everyone has read this book~ I can't say I've heard one bad thing about it. Worth the time to read this one~ (in a reading slump try this) Highly recommend :)

Review~ The Angry Woman Suite by Lee Fullbright

DISCOVERY AWARD 2012, FICTION "Secrets and lies suffuse generations of one Pennsylvania family, creating a vicious cycle of cruelty in this historical novel that spans the early 1900s to the 1960s. Raised in a crumbling New England mansion by four women with personalities as split as a cracked mirror, young Francis Grayson has an obsessive need to fix them all. There's his mother, distant and beautiful Magdalene; his disfigured, suffocating Aunt Stella; his odious grandmother; and the bane of his existence, his abusive and delusional Aunt Lothian. For years, Francis plays a tricky game of duck and cover with the women, turning to music to stay sane. He finds a friend and mentor in Aidan Madsen, schoolmaster, local Revolutionary War historian, musician and keeper of the Grayson women's darkest secrets. In a skillful move by Fullbright, those secrets are revealed through the viewpoints of three different people-Aidan, Francis and Francis'stepdaughter, Elyse-adding layers of eloquent complexity to a story as powerful as it is troubling. While Francis realizes his dream of forming his own big band in the 1940s, his success is tempered by the inner monster of his childhood, one that roars to life when he marries Elyse's mother. Elyse becomes her stepfather's favorite target, and her bitterness becomes entwined with a desire to know the real Francis Grayson. For Aidan's part, his involvement with the Grayson family only deepens, and secrets carried for a lifetime begin to coalesce as he seeks to enlighten Francis-and subsequently Elyse-of why the events of so many years ago matter now. The ugliness of deceit. betrayal and resentment permeates the narrative, yet there are shining moments of hope, especially in the relationship between Elyse and her grandfather. Ultimately, as more of the past filters into the present, the question becomes: What is the truth, and whose version of the truth is correct? Fullbright never untangles this conundrum, and it only adds to the richness of this exemplary novel. A superb debut that exposes the consequences of the choices we make and legacy's sometimes excruciating embrace."-Kirkus Reviews "The Angry Woman Suite is an unsettling and engrossing read, filled with dark twists and heartbreaking moments."-IndieReader "There is something fascinating in labyrinthine plot twists, which is what we have here, and I must applaud Fullbright for her keen and magical ability to pull it off with such aplomb."- Norm Goldman, Montreal Books Examiner and Bookpleasures.com "A very human story, 'The Angry Woman Suite' is a fine read focusing on the long lasting dysfunction of family."-Midwest Book Review 5 Stars ***** Reviewed by Joana James for Readers Favorite: "The Angry Woman Suite is quite a ride . . . very cleverly written . . . an outstanding novel. I recommend it with no reservations. 5 STARS***** Fantastic Book- I have found this review super hard to write..... Review - Every Day by David Levithan

In his New York Times bestselling novel, David Levithan introduces readers to what Entertainment Weekly calls a "wise, wildly unique" love story about A, a teen who wakes up every morning in a different body, living a different life. Every day a different body. Every day a different life. Every day in love with the same girl. There’s never any warning about where it will be or who it will be. A has made peace with that, even established guidelines by which to live: Never get too attached. Avoid being noticed. Do not interfere. It’s all fine until the morning that A wakes up in the body of Justin and meets Justin’s girlfriend, Rhiannon. From that moment, the rules by which A has been living no longer apply. Because finally A has found someone he wants to be with—day in, day out, day after day. With his new novel, David Levithan, bestselling co-author of Will Grayson, Will Grayson, and Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, has pushed himself to new creative heights. He has written a captivating story that will fascinate readers as they begin to comprehend the complexities of life and love in A’s world, as A and Rhiannon seek to discover if you can truly love someone who is destined to change every day Review~ Well for me this was a fantastic way to wrap up some of 2012- I loved this book~ What an original idea* This book was hard to put down and I flew through it in three sittings.
